Hermosa Beach deserves a city government that makes it easier for residents and business owners to make a life here. I grew up here and am a home owner now raising my own family here, while serving on the school board, volunteering with AYSO, and running a non-profit. We need an experienced eye on long-term planning and impact for civic infrastructure, private development, and a vibrant economy, or our city will continue to careen from budget crisis to public facility failures. Let's plan for Hermosa's future : rebuild our Pier and Beach infrastructure, modernize our residential and business codes, prioritize Pier Ave and business corridors to create vibrant commercial districts, and ensure our city staff has the resources it needs to get the job done.

As a kid here, I thought everyone had close-knit neighbors, endless bike rides, and the freedom to run to the beach whenever they wanted. It wasn’t until I came home after college that I truly saw how rare and special our little beach city is. We are a community that genuinely celebrates and takes care of one another.As a lifelong South Bay waterwoman, my connection to this ocean and this coast runs deep. I love this town fiercely, and I am running for City Council to make sure we thoughtfully modernize our city services without losing the local beach vibe that makes Hermosa feel like home.True democracy starts right in our own neighborhoods. As America approaches its 250th anniversary, I believe we protect our future by stepping up to serve locally. Beyond my time on our local school board, I’ve dedicated my entire life to building up communities. My path has taken me from serving as a Peace Corps volunteer to working as a classroom teacher and youth coach, and now leading as a non-profit administrator. Along the way, I’ve learned to use my background in law and public policy to solve tough, complex problems.For me, leadership is all about relationships. I’ve spent my career building bridges from Los Angeles to Sacramento to Washington, D.C. to bring real results back to Hermosa. City Hall should be a helpful partner, not a roadblock, for local shop owners and landlords.<ul><li>Partnership with Business Owners: Creating a culture of communication and feedback before policies disrupt their business and make Fast, Fair Rules that use clear data to set fixed, reliable timelines for city responses so business owners aren't left waiting.</li><li>Smart Planning &amp; Parking: Solving our tough beach-city infrastructure and housing issues without losing the unique coastal character of Hermosa.</li><li>Vibrant Shopping and Cultural Areas : Hermosa Beach's heart and soul are rooted in art, music, and expression of the beach culture. Economic development that promotes our Hermosa identity and grow our economy are essential.</li></ul>The School Board Experience:<ul><li>Creating a beautiful campus and inclusive culture requires a focus on safety. Partnership with our Police and County partners are critical to ensure that we have a safe school community. I ran in 2013 in the aftermath of the tragic Sandy Hook shooting and have worked to not only harden our school facilities with fencing, cameras, and cross-agency preparation but also soften our social-emotional response to students dealing with trauma, homelessness, addiction so we are prepared to deal with any situation that comes to us. </li></ul>

This ensures local businesses, landlords, and the Hermosa Beach Chamber receive advanced notices regarding local construction, street impacts, or policy adjustments.</li></ul>My reputation is built on showing up, standing firm in values, and maintaining an open-door policy to meet, deliberate, and solve financial and infrastructure problems alongside all residents.The School Board Experience:<ul><li>During my 13+ years on our School Board, I took a disciplined, results-oriented approach to governance. I've helped manage over $100 million dollars in budgets, negotiated annual contracts with our labor partners, and maintained a strong reserve. Together, we passed crucial multi-million dollar facility bonds, modernized our policies, and protected our district's long-term financial health. We grew our enrollment by 10% since the pandemic, earned state recognition for award-winning programs and partnerships, and developed successful partnerships with the ed foundation and parent-teacher organization to raise additional funds.</li></ul>
